Universitas Sriwijaya Welcomes JAIST Delegation for JUMP 2025 Collaboration

Universitas Sriwijaya (Unsri) welcomed a delegation from the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) as part of the follow-up collaboration for the JAIST Partner University Master Connection Program (JUMP) 2025. The visit was attended by two distinguished professors from JAIST: Prof. Shinobu Hasegawa from the Center for Innovative Distance Education and Research and Prof. Motoichi Kurisawa from the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology.

The professors were received by Prof. Filli Pratama, Director of the Office for Collaboration, Internationalization, and Alumni, during a Soft Discussion held at The Excelton Hotel, Palembang, on Monday (September 22nd, 2025). Representatives from Unsri also participated in the meeting, including Najmah, Ph.D., Sabarudin, Ph.D., and vice deans from the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

In addition to strengthening collaboration on JUMP 2025, the visit also aimed to conduct external interviews for nine student candidates, consisting of seven students from the Faculty of Computer Science and two students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join an internship program at JAIST from January to March 2026 or pursue postgraduate studies at JAIST.

On the second day, the visit continued with a Short Lecture session featuring two insightful topics. Prof. Hasegawa delivered a lecture entitled “AI in Education within the Learning 5.0 Paradigm”, while Prof. Kurisawa presented “Recent advances and latest research findings on the design of biomaterial-based drug delivery systems (DDS) and regenerative medicine approaches for the treatment of inguinal diseases.” The session took place on Tuesday (September 23rd, 2025) at Dr. Jaidan Jauhari Auditorium, Training Center Building, Faculty of Computer Science, Palembang.

This visit marks an important step in strengthening the partnership between Universitas Sriwijaya and JAIST, while also opening greater opportunities for Unsri students to develop their academic and research careers through international programs.
